Reaped Off!

If had checked Laptop Mechanic's review on Hellopeter, I wouldn't have asked for his services. I found the business on google & contacted them on the 20th Sept. 2022 to report a case of Track pad not working on my HP ZBook work station, as my son spilled tea on it. I was told to replace the track pad without asking for assessment. The sum of R1035 was paid the same day.

They sent an email on 2nd November for the arrival of the part, which I took my computer to them for installation the same day. I got an email on the 3rd November that my machine was ready for collection, on getting there, I was told nothing was wrong with my track pad, the problem was a component beside the track pad (which i thought could have been diagnosed if I was asked to bring in the machine first). I feel I should have been called to say my computer is still not working, instead of "computer ready for collection" email and have to drive all the way to Pretoria.

He ordered this new component which he said was R750. He doesn't reply to messages or return calls. Worst part is, he doesn't apologise.

The part was finally delivered on 16th of January 2023, guess what? The new part wasn't the problem again, it's the motherboard! Now you can tell how disappointment I was feeling, having committed my self.

I finally got a message to inform me my machine was ready today 24th January 2023 after incessant calls since I was told it would be ready in 2 days. I was shouted at for asking why my calls were ignored, he said he's busy, he didn't have time to take calls, the same call he took when I wanted to consult him? Anyway, I paid another R1265 for the job done on the motherboard he sent to another technician for repair. When I asked for the Track pad they ordered since it wasn't the problem? He became very aggressive at me again that he bought a component of R750 (which I didn't have a need for), started stammering and didn't have anything to say. He went back in with my laptop and said he wouldn't release it until I make payment. Naturally I don't review people/ businesses, but I think it's right to put this out there. Good number of people were left unsatisfied, which means it's not an isolated incidence, it is a pattern. I wouldn't recommend Laptop Mechanic.
