Non existant service from Lanseria Airport Management!

My letter sent to the CEO, and guess what.....NO answer!! Dear Mr Rammopo, This is a copy of a submission on your web-sight, my experience in South Africa is that companies in South Africa in general, do not monitor these.....

To start with, I have phoned and left a message for your CEO to phone me back....surprise surprise, no return call!! No, I am not surprised, I am getting used to top management of very public orientated companies treating their customers (who pay their salaries), with absolute contempt!! The reason for me phoning to talk to him is twofold.... 1: The airport has, as far as I can see, no information signage to direct people walking from the terminal building to the long term parking.... 2: My wife and I arrived from Cape Town on Monday night at about 22:00 hours, she was in a wheelchair having had an ankle operation, being pushed by one of your very friendly porters, I was pushing our trolley of luggage. We walked out into the short term parking, turned right, and three of four car lanes later, turned left..... As it was, we turned too early, and had to walk to the end of the lane, bringing us into the car lane that enters the long term parking area. We walked down this lane to the entrance boom. As the trolley would not fit under the boom, nor could go around the boom, I tipped it back, walked around the boom, whilst guiding the trolley under the boom....at which point I landed in a hole that was between 0.8 and 0.9 meters deep!!! As there is no lighting at this boom, it was impossible to see the hole, AND there was NO obvious temporary barrier around the hole!!!! Whilst in the hole, I could just distinguish some red and "white" barrier tape lying in the ground, very dirty from the work that had been going on, and totally useless at night. I can only say, that the airport, and its insurers (And Me) are very lucky that beyond some deep bruising in my left thigh, and a stiff left shoulder and neck, I was undamaged!!!

PLEASE may I ask you to do something, as in putting up VISIBLE waist high barriers to protect people from these holes whilst you are working on them, to prevent other people doing damage to themselves??!! Then....PLEASE put up some signage directing people along the correct passage to the long term parking??!!

Regards, Ian Traill

Well....no e-mail letters answered!
So, Friday, 1st November, I went to take some pictures.
I then when to the info desk, and asked for someone in management to talk to.
After some time, they managed to track down "Sam", the manager of Airport Safety, What I nice man!
I explained what had happened, and that I had had no response, he asked me to show him what I had been talking about, so we took a walk to the area.
He was shocked, apologised most profusely, and then while we were walking back to the terminal building, we bumped into the contractor responsible for the holes.....his comment, "I have been rapped over the knuckles, sorry".
That was it.....
Aah well, congrats to Sam for being so nice, not so congrats to the rest.....
