Unacceptable experience at Langebaan Country Estate

A shocking and totally unacceptable experiece with RCI Langebaan Country Estate.

A friend made a booking for 4 girls to stay at Langebaan Country Estate through RCI. On Tuesday 13 March she confirmed the booking and received the confirmation email. On Thursday 15 March she spoke to Sharon who deals with RCI bookings at Langebaan Country Estate, who confirmed the booking.

On Friday at 3pm my friend called again to discuss late arrival. Sharon said that it was fine.

On arrival at the resort at 8:10pm on Friday, we called Sharon to tell her we were at the main gate. The security officer at the gate was more than happy to sign us in. We then got a phone call from Sharon asking where we were. She was exceptionally angry and impatient. We were then told by the security officer that we had to go to the gate on the opposite side of the road. When we got there we were confronted by a man called Mark. He was instantly verbally abusive and accused us of being rude to Sharon. We were all very confused as Sharon had been the one shouting at us on the phone. His rude and abusive behaviour continued and we were told to pull over to the side of the gate. He left us sitting in our car (by now it was 8.30pm and pitch dark) and then came over again, shouting and telling us that without a printed confirmation letter (we had ALL the details on the form on our cell phone) and R2500 in CASH we were not getting into the resort. When we asked if we could provide a hard copy in the morning he became more abusive and said there was 'No Way' we were getting in. So...4 girls, pitch dark night, no alternative accommodation and an abusive man threatening us and telling us that he would not allow us onto the property!!!!

To say that we were stressed is an understatement! Fortunately we drove a little way and arrived at Club Mykonos and encountered a wonderfully helpful woman, Henriette Smit, who phoned RCI Regional Manager and after quite a few phone calls managed to swop the points and arranged accommodation for us.

Another point to note is that my friend's father had called Sharon to attempt to intercede on our behalf only to have the phone slammed down in his ear. So... no way to communicate with her either!!

This was a totally unacceptable situation and I would really hope that it does not happen to others! My question... would we have received the same treatment if there were men with us?? or perhaps if we had, instead, arrived in one of our other vehicles i.e. a Porsche Cayenne??
