Horrible Agent

Horrible service from the moment you sign the lease agreement. Once they get your signature, they get their commission and run! They lie and mislead you about the property to be leased to get you to sign. They are only efficient when they pursue you as a tenant, and thereafter, when they get your signature, it’s downhill from there onwards.

They will never respond to your queries, they will never attend to fixing any defects in the property you pay lots of money to rent, despite identifying those defects before you moved in, so for example in my situation, I was stuck for 11 months in an apartment with dysfunctional wall sockets and plugs, they handed over the apartment in filthy state, the walls had structural cracks and the sliding door didn’t work properly, there was sever mould and damp developing on the walls daily. Emailed them multiple times about all these issues and they never responded, so you will essentially get stuck in a 12 month lease agreement and not get your deposit back when you move out. A they have a big reputation of not refunding or returning your deposit and interest, which you are entitled to. What they will do instead is conduct a move out inspection and attempt to find excuses and damages that do not exist or damages you found when you moved in, which you did not cause, or ordinary wear and tear from using and living in the apartment, and they do this so that they can retain your deposit and interest. Do not ever think that as an agent , Landsdowne has your interests protected. They are in business and and profit oriented. Do not ever make the mistake of letting this bunch manage your tenancy, you will surely regret it. I literally had to vacate the apartment before the expiration of the lease because of how poor they are, and to ensure I do not lose my deposit. They also **** about our electricity payment method and said it is pre-paid. They **** and said that the effluent and waste management is paid by the owner, I do not have to worry about those rates , I found out at the end of the first month when I moved in that the electricity is not pre-paid. They use some third party vendor that rips people off. Stayed alone in that apartment and was never there most of the time due to work, my bill for electricity would sky rocket to R3000 and there would be water on top of that. There’s a lot of hidden costs in the apartments they manage. Terrible crowd, be warned!
