Beware - your motor plan is not as comprehensive as you think

My Disco 5 has been in to the dealership over 20 times for a range of manufacturing issues. Initially these issues were dealt with comprehensively. However, over the last year attempts have been made to repair rather than replace obviously faulty components. One example was a the wire to open the bonnet. This was repaired and not replaced and failed a second time. Being in the middle of nowhere and not being able to open your bonnet is a serious problem. Everything has now become a fight. The latest failure. Number 21. Was the plastic on the drivers seat. The moulding cracked due to nothing else but daily use on the commute. I was informed that mouldings only carry a three year guarantee and fall outside of my motor plan. So beware your motor plan is not what it seems and there are lots of conditions and loopholes that will be swallowing your cash quicker than you would like to imagine. In my case this was not an expensive component (R 1900), however given the major inconvenience caused through all the previous issues I would have expected a compromise. No such luck. I'm done with Landrover, the romance of the brand is lost with the service and build quality seemingly deteriorating exponentially. P.S. The fact that Landrover Cape Town is not claimed on Hellopeter should tell you they don't really care.
