I was renting from one of the landlords in East London

I started renting there in September 2020 it's a small bedroom. Then around January Feb 2021 I told my landlord that I am about to leave because her room is small It's limiting my baby's movements , she then said they are planning to extend the property to 2 bedroom but I was not interested to their bedroom because of their poor service their room was always leaking.

Then sent my landlord a notice to say I will be leaving end June that's where I started noticing that she is ***** now no and during the month her husband approached my nany to say they stating renovations Today

Their renovations was going to be cutting of the wall from our room to the room next door then I called them to say they can not do that while we are there I have a baby and I am asthmatic and there will dust all over so we can not live like that

She said she heard my reasons but I inconveniencing them that means they won't be able to rent out the property in July because their renovations won't be done

And I didn't answer them

While there was that beef I accidentally hit the gate with my car but the was no damages except that the gate stopped moving because it went out of the line or its line

Then she was not there but her husband was the he even said I must not worry he will call them the guys to do the welding the following day I asked him he said he has not yet called then her wife came back and sent me a message to say I must pay R5300 for the gate no assessment no nothing then I refused saying I will call my people to fix it and I did the gate was fixed and I was left with few days before I leave her property

I left in 30th of June we fought about my deposit she eventually deposited on the second then on the 4th she sent me a message to say the gate stopped moving

So my question is am I still liable for the gate even if I left it fine and it stopped after I left
