For the initial blood tests done on 2nd April I had authorised those and already paid those. However, Lancet called me a week later saying they forgot to charge me for additional blood tests done on 4th April. Sadly my father passed away at 7am on 4th April 2021 so I asked Prenuvani Naidoo for more details as it is strange that blood tests would be done when someone has passed away. Prenuvani failed to provide a justifiable answer and started threatening us saying "I will just send this to the debt collection department if you refuse to pay"

She also claims that these were ordered on the bedside notes by Dr. Mansoor that morning. However, Dr. Mansoor was not there and we were there from 5.30am as the ward had called us at 4.50am that morning to let us know my father was in his last stages and we rushed to hospital and were there by 5.30am. Prenuvani claims that the blood tests were taken at 5.30am even though we did not see anyone taking blood tests and we would have refused to allow them if that was the case especially as these were the last few moments of my father's life.

Something does not seem right here. The fact is that my father passed away early morning on 4th April 2021. He was in his last moments as we were there at 5.30am and the staff on duty called us at 4.50am that my father is in his last stages as his heart rate and BP was dropping. The bloods were definitely not taken at 5.30am whilst we were there and it would have been inhumane of anyone to draw blood from someone who is in their last moments of life.

It would be strang if the doctor or medical staff would also request blood to be drawn when a person is in his very last moments of life. However I do not recall this happening but we were charged for this and paid the amount to avoid any issues.

I think you need to properly check this and provide us with full proof and details of who authorised this and when exactly the blood was drawn.

For the blood tests on 4th April 2021 I did not authorise any further blood tests. Lancet failed to get written confirmation and authorization from Dr. Mansoor that he ordered these blood tests as my family and I were at the hospital at my father’s bedside on 4th April and I can confirm that no blood tests were taken. Furthermore, my father was in his last moments of his life passing away at 7am in the morning of 4th April 2021 so it does not make any sense whatsoever to do blood tests at the final moments of an individual’s life.
