Overcharged by an insincere institution
I had a few blood tests done in May this year. When I went to the Lancet office, I was asked if I had medical aid and I did say that I was not sure if my medical aid covered bloods. I was asked for my medical aid number and the person that entered it said that everything looks fine and it will be billed to medical aid. A few months later, we receive a bill for R1900, saying that medical aid did not cover these tests. Firstly, I feel that it's unfair that sicknesses such as mine are not deemed as important as chronic. I then contacted Lancet and asked if these rates could not be reviewed as I have to pay cash for it. I received a blank email from a representative that didn't even answer my question. I was then told that I can pay this amount over 3 months. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted with the way that sick people like myself get ********** by large companies like this. I went to a smaller yet reputable pathology lab last week to conduct my follow up tests, and I can confidently say that I paid a fraction of the price. I don't see why Lancet could not be sincere to me and discount this ridiculously large amount of money that was expected to be paid by my medical, and is expected to be paid by a normal citizen like myself. I would not encourage anyone to use these services as I quite frankly feel **********.
