Lancet Laboratories - ***** Up my Test

Hi There. I am very disgruntled with Lancet at the moment. We have gout in the family. I experienced alot of pain and my doctor referred me to Lancet for a uric acid test. The results he received from Lancet indicated that my uric acid is only 0.02 which ruled gout out. I said to him that it is impossible as I could not bear the pain anymore. He then sends me back to Lancet to do more test and asked to repeat the uric acid test 2 - 3 days later. The results he received then indicated that everything was normal EXCEPT my uric acid results. This was now 0.49! The doctor contacted the pathologist and she confirmed that there was a problem with the calibration of the machine on the first test which gave the wrong result. At least now my doctor started to treat me for gout, which it clearly was as I am pain free now. Now the REAL issue. I subsequently received a bill from Lancet as our medical savings ran out. Lancet’s debtors clerks phone me requesting to pay for the test being done. I gladly agreed to pay for the second set of test, which I paid for in a couple of days. The debtor’s clerk made a note on the system for the issue to be investigated. I received the same call from a different person at the end of each month for a couple of months and the same story. All the debtors clerk agreed that they would not even have paid for the second test and referred the issue to be investigated . You can go and listen to the recordings. I then received a text message that my account was handed over to Bayhack Landau Collections. I phoned them and the gentleman that I spoke to also agreed that this is absurd and referred the account back to Lancet. My doctor then drafted a report that I forwarded to you and only then the investigation was done. The last communication that I received from Lancet was: “Kindly be advised that previously the account the account was sent for investigation our back office has responded regarding the query. As stated we have not charged you for incorrect results the test were done and results were given to the Dr over the phone as this was done by one of Lancets pathologists.” Yes the result of the 1st test was given to the doctor, but how can you expect me to pay for it. Only 1 test was needed not 2, to get the correct result. If the job was done correctly on the 1st test this issue would not even existed. Looking forward hearing from you.
