Lancet endangers lives
Dear Ms. Steyn,
I have been under Lancet’s observation for anticoagulation since 2013. I have never been so badly treated and endangered as today.
I had my blood test at Lancet Retail Crossing, Little Falls Roodepoort this morning, November 20th at 10h00. I phoned to get INR results at about 16h00. I spoke initially to a call centre agent, “elaine” who wouldn’t take my MRI number but insisted on my ID number – first time in 7 years, I don’t like giving out my ID number willy nilly.
Then she told me my INR was 3.47 after trying to find it on your system for about 5 minutes. She gave me the dosage of ½ pill everyday until my next test on December 4th. I then questioned this high INR reading, at which point she told me I mustn’t take a warfarin pill today.
This is inexcusable.
If this reading is correct, which I doubt, I could bleed to death if I hadn’t questioned the so called dosage. I asked to speak to a supervisor, which didn’t happen.
To check, I again called an hour later and spoke to Georgia who confirmed the reading and escalated the matter.
Later on I was called by another operative, Odette Smit, and told that you are on a new system and that she would put me in touch with you.
Here’s what I need to know:
1. Why didn’t “Elaine” tell me not to take a warfarin dose this evening - despite my high INR? 2. How is it possible that my INR has gone from 1.66 on November 3d 2020 to 3.47 on 20 November – without any changes in my dosage, additional medications, alcohol or anything else? 3. Could this be a data entry fault in your new system – sort of along the lines of not telling me to not take a warfarin pill today?
Please find out what is going on? You’re dealing with people’s lives -yes, it’s a Friday, but really?
I presume your phone calls are recorded -please review them.
I look forward to hearing from you urgently.
Yours sincerely
