Lancet continues to harass me for an account that is fully paid
Complaint: I am absolutely appalled at the ongoing mishandling of my account at Lancet.
On 19 May 2025, blood tests were done with a total account of R2,635.90. On 12 June 2025, my medical aid (Bestmed) paid R2,075.60, leaving a shortfall of R560.30. On 25 June 2025, I paid the R560.30 via SnapScan, which settled the account in full.
Despite this, I continue to receive SMS reminders claiming I owe money. Lancet has ignored numerous emails, proof of payment, and multiple copies of Bestmed’s remittance advice.
On 24 July 2025, Lancet even resubmitted the same claim to Bestmed, which was rejected as a duplicate (code 241). Isn’t it obvious that a claim is only returned as a duplicate if it has already been paid? Yet Lancet still insists the account is unpaid and “the patient’s liability.”
This is disgraceful. I demand that Lancet corrects their records immediately, stops harassing me with false SMS payment reminders, and issues a zero-balance statement confirming this account is closed.
If this is not resolved without delay, I will escalate the matter to the Council for Medical Schemes and the Credit Ombud.
