I was admitted to private hospital for 1 day about 6 months ago for a minor ailment. I am a private patient do, not have medical aid. Doctor ordered infection count Lab test when I was admitted and a 2nd one before I was discharged. Being a private patient lab requested full payment before payments were done. No problem, I sent my son to pay in full for both using my credit card. Then about 4 months later they send my son a message stating that "as the medical aid did not settle my account in full they needed a further payment of R400.00 to make up the shortfall" But how could this happen when I paid in full before the tests were done. They would not do the tests until it was paid. Then they started calling him and he told them very clearly that it was not his account and gave them my contact details. Now a "debt collector" called him with the same story despite him telling them to contact me. Is this perhaps a **** by staff working there because I have always been a private patient, never had medical aid so how can they say the medical aid never paid in full. I think this warrants investigation as there is something wrong here. How many other people do they do this to that just pay it thinking it might be legit? In my lifetime I have had many tests done at Labs and always paid my way. I have never encountered this type of treatment before and don't need to try and short-pay anyone R400.00. The hospital and doctors fees was over 20 times this so why would I want to short-pay this small amount??
