Impossible to get a response
I am used to Lancet taking literally three months to send an invoice, then demanding payment within seven days. What I haven't experienced is what my partner has had to deal with recently. An SMS stating that an account has been "handed over to ITCBA". Aside from her having to guess that this refers to a collection agency, the account quoted is over R4000 in credit, because of an apparent double payment by Discovery Health. I have been trying for six days to find out from Lancet if there have been any further invoices that would change that credit. I have been promised calls in response to mine by both Lancet Collections (from whence the SMS came) and Debtors. But no calls or replies to my several emails. All while my partner is battling with cancer. She shouldn't have to deal with this!

Your Lancet Acc M******xx of R 519.10 is now due. Pls make payment to Nedbank, *** or call us on ***
That is a similar SMS to that which was sent to my partner! And the same account number. Also announcing she had been handed over to a debt collection agency. Thankfully it seems I have so far escaped the latter. But our Lancet accounts have nothing to do with each other! Unbelievable.
