On the 29th May I was admitted at hospital. As part of my treatment numerous blood tests were undertaken on a daily basis. When I was brought to hospital at trauma, the doctor requested some tests. The phlebotomist had no idea how to bleed a patient. I have no idea why but he poked my vein on my hand when I had perfectly visible veins on my arm. The vein bleed profusely and he just took a cotton bud and taped it over. He then bleed my arm very harshly which turned blue and scarred. The same happen to my hand. When I questioned why he poked me there for no reason, he did not respond! During my stay at hospital, several phlebotomist had bleed me but all were professional and I did not endure pain unlike the above incident. Another Major Problem is the delay in one of my specific test results that I am still awaiting. The doctor ordered a Lead Screen and the results were not given. Every time it is enquired we are told 7 days turn around time. Today is the 9th day and still nothing. This delay is unacceptable! I understand the logistics issue but this should not effect service delivery. Lead poisoning requires prompt diagnosis and treatment as the damage is irreversible. I am a medical scientist and I have worked in such laboratories therefore I know how quick these tests are to perform. My doctor doesn't quite know what is wrong me and I was previously exposed to Lead hence the test was requested, amongst other tests. So whats the delay?! I am still in hospital and I am awaiting these results so my doctor and can diagnose and provide the appropriate treatment if it is positive. My stay in hospital is prolonged because of this and this results in a heavier medical bill.
