I am a cancer patient in remission. I had an operation to remove the lymph node in March of this year. Tests were done and chemo soon followed. I was not billed by Lancet at any time. I checked my statements and medical aid had covered the bills. Where there were shortfalls I have made every effort to cover. On Wednesday afternoon at about 4 p. m I received a message to say I have been handed over to I. T. C for an unpaid account. I then called the I. T. C and they informed me that it was Lancet who had referred me. I then called to query about this and I was told I owe them R612 from March the 2nd of this year. The guy with whom I spoke Zaak admitted as he checked under my name that the system showed that I had never been billed or contacted about any bill. I am wondering how it is possible for my name to be dragged through to the I. T. C without ever been contacted. This was March the 2nd, I received the handover message on November 29th. All these months where was this bill and why was I not contacted and now expected to pay so suddenly for an invisible bill.
