Bad accounting

My wife was diagnosed with cancer last July. She has been in and out of hospital since. Obviously a vast amount of blood tests have been throughout. I received a phone call from Lancet last week saying I owed them R38 000 due to medical short falls etc. This is the first time I am hearing about this with the first shortfall being back in August already. Now they are hounding me for payment. Why leave it until now. I very frustrated. If I had known about the multiple shortfalls I would've mad a plan back then already. No one has R38 000 to suddenly pay. I will be chatting to my medical to see what the reasons were for all the shortfalls, however until then Lancet please stop hounding me for money
