Check the batteries in items sold

During 2022 I was ill with Covid. The pharmacy billed my medical aid and sent medication and a thermometer. I noted that the battery was low in the thermometer and made do ass I could not do anything. I thought I would replace it when we recovered. I needed the thermometer and checked the battery recently. It was coming apart. I went to a store to replace the battery. They did not stock that size and recommended I go to the pharmacy. As it was the same pharmacy that supp**** the thermometer and was opposite the store I thought it was practical and made sense. When I asked the assistant about the battery she directed me to a store in a centre a distance away and not on my route. I enquired why they did not keep replacement batteries for the thermometers they stocked but kept batteries for other items. The assistant offered me another thermometer instead. I requested that she check that it worked. It transpired that more than one of the thermometers they sold had low batteries. I am most appreciative for receiving medication sent which I paid for whilst ill. But selling and sending defective items is just not acceptable.
