Disappointing Anniversary Dinner

On 11 Feb, my hubby booked a table for our 8th wedding anniversary at La Perla, Sea Point. We usually go to La Perla on special occasions as we enjoy the food and atmosphere. However, on this occasion, we were sorely disappointed. We were initially seated inside and ordered g****tizers, after 2-3 mins, we asked to be moved outside. Our drinks came 20 mins later and menus given to us another 15 mins later, we were not able to ask our waiter beforehand as we could not see him during this time (someone else gave us menus). Our waiter was very attentive to a table of 8 or 9 foreigners next to us and hardly attended to us. The food we ordered was so different than what we have experienced before, very disappointed in the quality. We also received butter in an ashtray (as someone else posted). We were not asked if we wanted more drinks and even had to get up to find salt and pepper for our meals. At the end of our meal, we wanted desserts, we waited forever for the waiter to come and had to ask him to bring a dessert menu, he did not offer it. The upside is that desserts came out quick and were delicious. Sadly, as a special occasion, our night certainly did not feel special and we left feeling disappointed in an establishment that we truly enjoy visiting. I have emailed the restaurant on Wednesday and have not heard back yet.
