Such a pity the food was so mediocre

Invited for fathers day (me) and a farewell to close friends. Service was fine but the food, which is supposed to be of the top calibre, with top price - starters around R 60 each and main course around R 140 each - and there being 7 of us I really expected amazing food. Of all the starters, springbok carpaccio, chicken livers, prawn and avo etc, the only dish worth mentioning was the one springbok carpaccio - the rest was bland and tasteless adn we tried all of them and shared. Main courses included warthog - that was semi redeemed by some alcohol based sauce, what a pity. The prawns were the most overcooked and boring prawn dish ever. The fillet steak was plain and tasteless and the chicken in that dark brown sauce was very very sad.<br> <br> We had a waitress who could not wait to wait to pour our wine quick enough until we took over and she was friendly and probably the warmest part of the restaurant as it was cold inside.<br> <br> It felt as if the chef and owner was not there and that we were the intruders versus the guests - and the bill was a whopper with 3 bottles of wine a whopping R 2500 - sad because a meal at a fish and chipper or pizza place would have sufficed.
