Refusal to Pay Medical Aid Claims

MEDICAL AID NIGHTMARE – LA Health Medical Aid So, I always believed that I had a medical aid until I was pregnant last year. I pay over R7 000 monthly contributions towards this medical aid. It was a risky pregnancy, so I had to do blood tests every 21 days throughout the pregnancy which the medical aid did not pay for. In addition, they did not pay for most of my consultations especially when i was referred to specialists by my gynecologist. For the few consultations paid, only 18% of the total claim was paid. Worst of all, they paid only 18% only towards my Cesarean delivery. To top it off, they paid only 22% towards my son's emergency procedure after an accident. I am currently in debt of more than R60 000 to be paid to different Dr's and I have no money to service this debt. Some of the Dr's are already threatening handing over of my debt which is understandable on their side. My debt to the different Dr's in the last 12 months is more than my total contributions to the medical aid per annum. My medical aid is clearly saying to that I don't need a medical aid, I can afford all expenses cash. I AM SHUTTERED, DISGUSTED AND IN DEBT. There is absolutely no way that I will be able to come out of this debt anytime soon and my credit record will be severely compromised. This is my story. I took a medical aid to ease medical burden but in turn threw myself in a debt pit. All thanks to LA Health medical Aid Scheme.
