Disgusting & absolutely horrifying service from LA Cars in Meyerton
I purchased a vehicle from LA Cars based in Meyerton on April 6th 2019 and to date I am still driving around with temporary plates, no registration documents nor a spare key for the vehicle purchased.
It was agreed that the registration costs, would be cancelled as 2 new tyres needed replacing on said vehicle and I would replace it personally and the dealership would removes the registration costs in turn.
Funds were fully paid for the car on April 6th 2019 and vehicle was picked up on April 8th 2019 after the funds had reflected.
Once the vehicle was picked up I was promised a new battery, spare key and the registration for the vehicle within 3 weeks (which is the duration of the temporary plates).
To date, 2019.07.01, I have only received the battery.
The sales consultant who I was dealing with, Mr. Owen Govender, was very helpful prior to the deal closing. He followed up with me regularly to ensure the deal went smoothly but after the funds were paid, his entire attitude changed.
Multiples calls were made in April to Owen Govender on *** who kept saying they were working on the registration and spare key and he would get back to me. This went on for over a month.
Called Mr Govender again on 2019.05.14 and he told me that the papers for the car were lost and he has app**** for duplicate papers which should take 7-10 working days.
Followed up with Mr Govender on 2019.05.20 and he says he was going to follow up with the lady that does the registration and get back to me – didn’t receive a response.
On 2019.05.22 I called Mr Govender 6 times but no answers – left an SMS too however no response.
On 2019.05.23 I called Mr Govender again, no response. Went onto the LA Cars dealership on cars.co.za to possibly retrieve another contact number.
Got a hold of a Mr Kaylen, who said he will assist me.
Mr Kaylen called me from number *** at 9:40 AM and says he spoke to the manager and said it will take 7 days to get the registration papers for the Polo GTI. He also advised that Mr Owen Govender was in hospital.
Called Kaylen on 2019.05.28 @12:34PM, he advised that the dealership is struggling to get the paperwork in order due to some ‘new laws’ which they have to comply with and need 2 – 3 weeks to sort out the vehicle registration.
Called Kaylen on 2019.05.30 as my 3rd permit was expiring. He said I needed to go fetch the temporary plates from Lens, a Pakistani owned convenience store called The Corner shop. Dealership always made me travel to pick up the temporary plates + the battery.
2019.06.10 – Called Owen twice, no answer. Called Kaylen who said to call back in 5 minutes as he was feeling under the weather.
I then called Nesan on ***. Nesan was the sales rep from LA Cars who released the vehicle to me as Mr Owen Govender was in Durban when I took delivery of said vehicle.
Pleaded with Nesan to contact Owen or give the details of the owner of LA Cars as i have been too patient waiting for the vehicle papers.
Called Kaylen on 2019.06.11 – says his driver lost the key and he is now busy with VW getting a new key made and this will take 5 business days.
Called Kaylen on 2019.06.14 – he advised that the spare key will be ready before my current temp permit expires which is 2019.06.30
Called Owen, Kaylen and Nesan on 2019.06.18 + 2019.06.19 – no answer from anyone (all 3 are sales reps for LA Cars).
2019.06.19 – went through my call log on my phone looking for another number to contact someone at the dealership. Came across a number used in April to contact Mr Govender which was ***. Called this number and Darien answered. Explained to Darien what was going on and he said to SMS him my details and he’ll get back to me; no response received after the SMS.
Called Mr Owen Govender at 8:23PM on 2019.06.19 which was 29 days after my last contact with him. Acted very sick over the phone and said he lost all his contacts hence he wasn’t able to contact me (although I’ve called him MULTIPLE times). Says he was going to follow up with the registration.
2019.06.20 – Called Mr Owen Govender on ***. Says he will get back to me today but obviously he hasn’t
Called Owen Govender on 2019.06.21 He told me that the papers for the vehicle will be ready on Thursday, 2019.06.27 along with the spare key.
I have been sent from pillar to post with this transaction. The sales reps keep giving me stories about how things are getting done but nothing ever gets done.
I know require legal intervention as my 4th permit is expiring on 2019.06.30 and I have been trying for almost 3 months to acquire the registration documents + number plates + spare keys for my cars.
It cannot possibly take this long to get the documents and the staff from LA Cars are *********** and completely useless. They have no sense of pride nor service delivery.
This is an on-going completely disgusting transaction with people who just have no sense or urgency or listening to what clients need. Mr Owen Govender has been far from helpful and hadn’t contacted me for almost 1 entire month.
I want this resolved as soon as possible as I do not want to be issued another temporary permit. Enough is enough, I want everything that was promised to me.
Today is 2019.07.01, I was supposed to receive the spare keys + registration docs & number plates on 2019.06.27, yet another lie!!!
The dealership doesn't even care if my car does not have a valid permit. It can be impounded if i continue driving it but i guess as long as the dealership got its money it's good, right?
