It is conveniently located in Station Road, but it pains me to say that this is a dump of a place. You are harassed by homeless people and beggars to enter the store, or pay R 5 (crazy!) to use the back parking where you are still sometimes bothered. It's not clean or hygienic, doesn't smell fresh and there's a very negative vibe inside the store. There's an absurdly small turnstile at the entrance to the shop that is difficult to navigate for a shorter person with a handbag or larger person, not to mention people with disabilities. The turnover of staff is clearly high, which tells it's own story. I am told that they do not treat or pay their staff properly, essentially *****ing from them by not providing transport for shift workers, not paying for sick leave, annual leave or overtime at the appropriate rates, deducting accumulative large amounts for uniforms without written consent, and ********ly terminating staff without notice or severance pay. If this is true, then it makes perfect sense why no one in the store seems to care. Come on, clean up your act! And yes, I have reported this to the franchisor so don't bother giving me the standard reply that you've given everyone else and yet done nothing about. It's time they close this dump down. Rather go to the clean, fresh and vibrant Groote Schuur Spar with FREE, SAFE and even covered parking.
