i had a very bad expirience started back in 2014,lost a child at an early age and when i went to home affairs to get her death certificate , couldnt and only printed birth then related my story was asked if i knew the undertakers that did the funeral, great then went to kupane for assistance and ask the record books was denied by the lady at their reception saying if i cant remember the dates they cant help i pleaded and say im not sure but i knew the year, she told me she cant help, then went to Avalon cemeetry to search when i got there told the undertakers should give me the grave no it is then there i contacted the funeral directors which they protected the undertakers again last week went back to avalon got a very good guy who took almost 4hours searching the archives and found the name and surname of the deceased but there was no burial order meaning the undertaker didnt provide yet the child was burried then ask to search for grave which was helped with then again was sent to the undertakers to ask for certain document that would the depart of home affairs to register the death of my daughter when i got the the very same receptionist told me to go to avalon they will provide with te form told her was from there and wanted clarity of exactly is going on and with the attitude ,so went back to cemetery now explain to the ladies there this other one told me the undertaker was suppose to rather tell me to go and do an affidavit stating that lost Child that was berried by them so people who finally helped was Mrs Nkosi at Avalon cemetery with help of Mr Nkuna who took time to their archives

afternoon im not really sure about the apology and that cemetery records are kept by municipality, does this mean the death registration also kept by municipality rather captured by municipality instead of home affairs,my question is what happened to the BI 1663?as im denied to prove to their docs that they did burial n for some reason it was not submitted to home affairs, havnt ive encouneterd enough pain,as i write this someome somewhere is using my child birthdate as her ID document, thisis unforgivable

Hi Goodness
Please kindly note the following:
1. A cemetery can never allocate a grave if any documents were not submitted (birth certificate/ID, burial order, death certificate, internment form). So in this instance, all the necessary documentation were submitted hence the grave was provided.
2. An original of the BI1663 is submitted to Home Affairs and copies made for the next-of-kin as we are do not keep those documents and in the event that one loses these documents, an application is made to the Department Of Home Affairs following the necessary procedures.
3. We have requested above that you send us your contact details so that we can reach out to you.

Kind regards,
Kupane Funerals
