why did my reserved seat become a free for all
So I checked in online so that I could reserve the seat that I wanted, but when it came to boarding I was told not to be upset if someone else was in my seat and that I should just grab the next one I saw. So what's the point in reserving a seat in the first place?! Really? I should have preference, and if there are seats left then they go to those who haven't reserved theirs ahead of time. Otherwise what's the point?

Our staff undergo an unscheduled manual exercise each month to ensure that when our systems are offline, we are equipped to handle manual procedures. Flight MN452/25Nov'15 was chosen to be checked-in manually. Unfortunately we are unable to notify customers of these manual exercises, as it is a random exercise.
It is regrettable that you were not given your assigned seat. However these manual procedure exercises are important to ensure that our staff are kept current and to alleviate any problems we may experience in future if our systems are down.
