What is the use of requesting my contact details and not using it

On Monday, 10 October 2016 I was scheduled to fly on flight MN801 from OR Tambo to East London, at 6:45.

Upon, checking in on Sunday, the flight indicated that there would be a potential delay. Not being sure whether it is an error or not, I tried contacting the call centre which was closed and therefore unable to assist. I then contacted my travel agency for assistance, who indicated that they tried contacting Kulula staff at the airport, however the phone was just ringing. The travel agency, indicated that if i didnt receive any communication from kulula, I should rather go to the airport, because if i miss that flight, the next flight is only at 16:00. The travel agency also indicated that they regularly experience instances where flight time are changed back and forth and it is safer to be on time.

To my dissapointment upon arrival, my flight was delayed from 6:45 to 9:10, without receiving any communication from Kulula. Both my colleagues, confirmed that have not received any notification. Hence, my question why request my contact details and not use it.

A simple sms, would have allowed me to make alternative arrangments, instead I had to postpone and miss important busines commitments at the last minute. I know your argument would be that I should have noticed it on my boarding pass, however doing an online check in prior to flight is to the passengers benefit and not a mandatory requirement. Really doubt whether I will fly with Kulula again.
