unnecassary charges

I board the 8 10 flight to jhb from king shaka international airport whilst checking. In i had to pay 385 for an extra baggage that couldnt fit the hand luggage requirement and although i had weight left i had to pay for an extra baggage because of company policies which i didnt know about and also im travelling from jhb to mumbai and because of the extra baggage i had to pay 385 rand which i feel for international connecting passengers is absolutely ridiculous.

Hello Khalidnoor,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

The Most Significant Carrier's baggage allowance applies to connecting flights on a single ticket if the onward connection is under 24 hours. This means we will honour the highest baggage allowance if your connecting flight is under 24hours. If the journey (on the same ticket) is not connecting, each applicable operating carrier's allowance will apply.

According to the below, your domestic tickets were booked separately and therefore the above rules do not apply. Unfortunately you will be charged for the extra baggage checked-in. For BA/Comair flights, customers may pay for an extra piece online www.ba.com which will cost you R290. For kulula flights, customers may pay for an extra piece online www.kulula.com which will cost you R290 as well.

Extra baggage may also be paid for on the day of departure at the airport which will cost you R385 per piece.

Thank you for being in touch with us.

Kind regards,
Thuli
