Unfair cancellation procedures!

I booked a flight for our domestic worker to fly to the Durban at the end of May. The cost of this flight is half her monthly salary. She unfortunately cannot go any longer and I phoned the call centre to cancel the booking so that she can at least have some of the money returned to her. They tell me that the ticket is non-refundable, I can only move it to a flight within the next 6 months. Whats worse is there is an additional fee to do this, as well as any additional costs for the new flight booking. So what is a domestic worker that earns a few thousand rand a month going to do with a ticket that costs a fortune and no additional money to pay for accommodation in Durban? Must she use the flight and sleep on the streets?

If the ticket is cancelled (which i requested so that they can sell it to someone else) or not used, Kulula conveniently keeps the money paid for the flight and puts another person in the seat, getting DOUBLE the money for the seatr How can this be allowed? Why is the mutual and fair? Logic defies me.

As far as I'm concerned Kulula, you're *****ing people's money. There is no excuse that the seat won't be filled, its one of the busiest weekends of the year!

Hello tarryn23,

Thank you for your post.

Before you complete your booking online, the fare class conditions will be displayed advising the passenger or person booking the flight on whether the booking is non-refundable or not.

Regards.
