Still professional/composed in Severe Thunderstorm
Flight MN 603 Johannesburg to Durban on Friday evening, 16th January 2015.<br> Departed 17h15 , Arrived 20h50 (approximately 3.5 hours)<br> We could not land at the Durban airport, King Shaka International because of severe thunderstorms.<br> The flight crew including pilots kept us informed throughout the flight about the severity of the thunderstorm and attempted to land, but made the safe decision to return to Jhb and wait it out. 4 other flights after us followed suit.<br> <br> Our experienced and cheerful flight attendant (senior in charge) was especially awesome. Her professionalism, experience, compassion, and dedication to maintaining great service levels was key to maintaining a relative calm and patient atmosphere amongst the passengers. The situation and experience would have been very negative if it were not for her assistance. <br> <br> After the thunderstorm, the eventual landing at Durban was still tricky because of turbulence and strong winds on the approach. Our plots were no doubt tested.<br> <br> THANK YOU FLIGHT CREW MN603 (on 16-01-2015) for going the extra mile ****erally and figuratively :-)!
