I am a travel coordinator for a medium sized company. I handle all top management and their respective family's travel. On 1 March I made a booking for the CEO's daughter and his grand kids. I pre-seated them for both flights on seat 2A, 2B and 2C. I paid for these seats. I checked that everything is correct on the confirmation. On check in they were seated on 21A, 21B and 21C and when I phoned to query this I was told that they can see the seats was paid for but they can't see the seat numbers and the return flight's seats is also paid for but they can't see which seats. This is UNACCEPTABLE. My position will be jeopardized within this company if I mess up on the flights and the seating. Hope Kulula has a job for me... Please see where the glitch in your booking system is and fix it!

Hello lianadp,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

On behalf of kulula.com we would like to apologise for the hassles experienced .

Thank you for taking my call this afternoon . I have enquired with the Durban airport team and I have been advised thus, families travelling with infants or children need to be seated in certain seats of the aircraft. The aircraft that was operating the passengers flight today did not allow for children to be seated on row 2 as this row is considered an emergency exit . Once passengers arrive on board the aircraft , we will check whether the family meet the CAA safety requirements which was agreed to when reserving the exit row seat. If you don't, we will take the decision to assign another seat and unfortunately a refund cannot be processed .

The Civil Aviation Authority requires passengers to be an able bodied adult in full fitness and able to understand printed and verbal instructions given in English,be willing and able to assist in the unlikely event of an emergency evacuation and they will be asked to confirm if they meet the CAA safety requirements .

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Bye for now

Fazila

Best regards,
