Shocking handling of flight delay

Shocking manner in which a technical problem has been dealt with. Surely itt is known that there is a technical problem the night before a r'ed eye flight'!. Just before boarding ie.05.30 informed that there is a 2 hour delay due to a technicall problem. No activity around the plane noted & then a little bit later the flight is delayed further & this continues. It is now at least 4 hours later & we are none the wiser! Promises continue! Why can't there be better communication so that we could make alternative arrangements where possible!
