Repeated delays on flights
We fly Kulula every second week JNB to KZN and vice versa. Of late the flights have been repeatedly delayed and in some cases no notice given to the passengers of further delays. As a small business this poses a huge strain in that meetings have to be cancelled and valuable time wasted at the airports. In the last month only one flight departed timeously and the remainder delayed. An email apology and customer satisfaction is sent to assist in improving the service. Sadly that is the last you will hear from Kulula until the next delay and the same process is followed.. Travellers should be notified timeously of delays as meetings etc need to be re-scheduled, example today the 11h20 has been delayed twice and only one notification received. On making the initial booking, due to availability on the flight my spouse was booked on the 11h20 and myself and mother-in-law on the 14h40. Due to the present delays we should have travelled to airport together to save time and money!
Thank you for your post.
Without making an excuse for the delays or your experiences, there are various reasons why a flight can be delayed. Delays due to weather, Air Traffic Control movement delays, where we experience a late start clearance and late takeoff due to incoming flight landings or due to traffic in lane before take off, aircraft defects that occur before departure, aircraft late off scheduled maintenance -late release from hanger. We also experience bird strikes on some occasions, late arrival of fuel tankers, there are computer or network failures, airport facility congestion and airport closures due to weather.
The above is only a few reasons why the customer experience a delay. It is not the intention of any airline to delay a flight on purpose, as we are aware of the impact any delay can have on the time and travel plans of a customer.
I have taken note of your concern regarding the notification and communication aspect and will address the matter with the relevant departments as there is room for improvement.
I trust that with your next kulula.com flight, we will meet your expectations.
Regards.
David
