Please change flight refund policy

Made a booking to fly from JHB to DBN for a wedding 2 weeks before the flight date. The wedding was cancelled (something beyond our control). Tried to cancel the flight 10 days before and was told that the ticket is completely non-refundable. I have now lost that money which I really can't afford to lose. I wish Kulula would change this policy.
