A month ago I booked a return flight from OR Tambo to KS International for the past weekend. When plans changed, I tried to change the onward flight time but the new tariff was more than the return flight so I bought a new ticket for the onward journey at a third of the offered change price. On Saturday evening I tried to check in online for my Sunday return flight but kept on receiving an error message. On Sunday morning I phoned Kulula and got a shock of my life . My ticket had been cancelled because I was a “no show” on Friday. I asked how can they cancel without contacting me,, but the attendant said it’s the airport that does that. I had paid Kulula for that ticket, not ORTambo, therefore my agreement was with the airliner and I expected them to update me about changes as they normally do when the flight is delayed. I did not get any communication from the airline or airport although they had all my details. To add salt to an injury, I was told I could “resuscitate” the ticket but it would cost R2700, when I had paid already R1200 for the return ticket, plus R500 for an earlier flight. I thought that was insane and ****************. In the end I bought another ticket but felt that Kulula is not what they claim to be. They are not making it easy for their customers and don’t care a hoot about them either. I work in Pretoria but family is in Durban so I travel to Durban quite often but I will not be using Kulula for some time. This experience left a hole in my wallet and a very bitter taste in my mouth.
