Kulula.com - carrying car parts in hand luggage is not allowed

I was travelling from Jhb to Dbn on a Sunday flight which was a public holiday and I had a brand new car part with me in my hand luggage. The airport security wouldn't let me through and asked me to go to Kulula.com check-in to find out if they allow such car parts onto their flights. I was assisted by Colly(or Connie) Madonsela. She called her supervisor who then told her go to airport security and ask them if it is ok to carry with me. Airport security was unsure so Colly went back up to the supervisor's office and returned with a box and told me that they will allow it as fragile goods and not as hand luggage and they didn't charge me any extra for it :) She explained that they don't allow any 2nd hand car parts on their flights which is not mentioned on their prohibitted items list and which caused me to think it was ok to carry on board. She also explained that not all new car parts are allowed. So in future I'd rather just use a courier instead of carrying car parts with me. I was super happy with Colly's service in going the extra mile to assist me.
