Kulula *********** single parents !!!
i have been a loyal customer of kulula for over 7 years <br> I have always travelled with one bag when I travel with my son - to date this has never been a problem<br> There is now a policy whereby if you share a bag it can't weigh more than 20 kilos - if it does you get charged for the extra kilos - this is conveniently hidden in tents and conditions and not adequately advertised to the consumer. When I explained all of this to the check in lady she basically told me that I should have packed two suit cases - I tried to explain that I am a single parent traveling alone I can't carry two heavy suitcases and a child - I don't have someone to help me - my bag was only two kilos over but she insisted on charging me - so my question to kulula is this - the R300 for the two kilos - is that worth risking losing a customer of 7 years - someone who spends on average R5000 a year in her private capacity - not to mention the business flights that work out to over R 30 000 in value - I may not be a genius but I'm pretty sure that R35k is more than R300 - even my son can work that out!!!<br> <br> Anyway thanks for nothing - I'm sure Mango will be sending you a thank you card soon

Our baggage policy had been brought about by the Piece and Weight concept that other global airlines are abiding by, meaning one bag per person at a certain weight. Our new baggage policy will bring us up to global standards. With increased fuel charges and associated costs in carriage of baggage it has been necessary for us to review how we best manage this in relation to how we improve efficiency in our business. This policy does not take bag pooling into consideration and is now specific to the piece concept and not weight.
This policy allows for 20kgs to be given as your \free baggage allowance\" if you are over this limit excess will be charged. Our new baggage allowance is 1 check in bag at 20kgs or less and 1 hand luggage bag at 7kgs or less. All this information can be viewed on the kulula.com website.
