KULULA Cancelled my flight without notice and charged me R1,917 to rebook it.
My wife booked a double return flight ticket on www.kulula.com (Reference Number: EVOEFQ). On short notice I had to fly in a day earlier with a different airline. Upon check-in my wife explained to the check in employee that I was unable to make the flight. Both my wife and I received a SMS and E-Mail notification that our return flight was open for check-in. However, when I tried to check in only my wife was on the return flight. Upon phoning the KULULA call center the call center employee could not transfer me to a supervisor on duty and forced me to book a new ticket (Reference Number: WEHZGA) claiming that I got credit for my initial ticket that was cancelled without notification or my consent. How can this policy stand if we notified the airline that I could not make the first leg of the flight? We paid for the first leg of the return flight without a refund. I was never checked in. We did not expect a refund for the first leg of the flight. KULULA lost no money because of an empty seat. How can KULULA justify cancelling my return flight without notifying me and then charging me R1,917 to re -book a flight on the same date claiming that I was reimbursed for the return flight? KULULA was notified that I could not make the first leg of the flight prior to departure. How can the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA) allow such a policy.
