I am so disappointed and disgusted by my customer service experience with Kulula airlines.
I am so terribly disappointed with airlines. On Tuesday the 2nd of April 2019 I purchased a one way flight ticket from Lanseria to Cape Town (online) and the departure date was for Thursday the 4th of April 2019 - the booking reference PNR for this particular flight was WEHJXD and the price I paid for my flight ticket was ZAR954.11. Fast forward to Thursday the 4th of April 2019 at the Kulula check in counter at Lanseria airport, I'm told that my boarding pass cannot be issued as my booking reference is not appearing on their system. I'm advised to go to the ticketing desk for further information and clarification which I do. At the Kulula ticketing desk, I am assisted by a gentleman who informs me that my bank (Nedbank) never authorized the payment for the flight ticket and the ticket fare money of ZAR954.11 was never received by Kulula. I immediately call my bank (Nedbank) in front of the gentleman working at the Kulula ticketing desk and my banker at Nedbank then confirms with both the Kulula airlines ticketing officer/gentleman that the ZAR954.11 was in actual fact authorized and is sitting in Kulula's bank account. The gentleman at Kulula's ticketing desk in Lanseria then informs me that there's really nothing he can do and that I must call the Kulula call centre to figure out what's going on with them. In order that I not miss the flight though, I end up purchasing a second ticket for a higher fare of ZAR1518.11 and after checking in I called the Kulula call centre and was assisted by a very rude lady by the name of Abongile. I kindly request that you please listen to the telephone recordings between Abongile and I on the 4th of April 2018 and you'll hopefully hear why I feel that her attitude was so condescending, disgusting and her tone of voice extremely arrogant and rude. Nevertheless, I explained the situation to Abongile and she told me that the ZAR954.11 for the first flight ticket would be reimbursed to my Nedbank account within 72 hours, which it was and that the difference in fare of ZAR564 would be reimbursed within 6 to 8 weeks. I didn't quite feel that if was even fair of me to be expected to wait 6 to 8 weeks for an error that was clearly the airlines, I nevertheless let it go. On Saturday the 25th of May 2019 I called the Kulula call centre to purchase flight tickets for my two children for an amount of R3,878.44 and I was assisted by a gentleman with the name of Vumelani Koza (Please refer to email screenshot on this post) who informed me that even though he could see from his system that the money had gone off my Bidvest bank card, the ticketing system at Kulula was not allowing him to issue my kids flight tickets and that Kulula would reverse the transaction and the funds would reflect in my bank account within 72 hours. I then had to drive to the airport to pay an amount of R3,878.44 for the second time (Booking Reference XDDBPK) in order to guarantee and repurchase the flight tickets. I then checked my Nedbank account to see whether the difference in fare of ZAR564 from the WEHJXD had been paid since the 8th week deadline for that refund is on Wednesday the 29th of May and there was no refund paid into my account. I then called the team leader Unathi Mbekweni who transferred my call back to Abongile and without disappointing, Abongile was condescending and rude as usual. She promised to query why the refund had not yet been processed at 09:00am Monday morning (today). But when I called her for follow up at 11:30am she refused to speak with me and instead made me hold the line for over half an hour and told the call centre assistant to tell me that she'd not forgotten about me and that she'd call me back (which she never does!) and since she's promised to call me back before and never did I didn't believe her and she still hasn't called me back. All I want from Kulula is my difference in fare of ZAR564 plus my transaction reversal amount of R3,878.44 paid back into my Nedbank and Bidvest bank account respectively please. I will never ever fly my children or I on either Kulula or British airways ever again. Can I please just have both of the monies owed by Kulula to me paid into my bank accounts because I really need my money back. Gloria Fernandes.
