Honeymoon Disaster

My husband and I had a beautiful wedding, however after driving three and a half hours from home we headed out to the airport to fly to cape town for our honeymoon. Our flight was due to leave at 6am. When we went to check in, they couldnt let me board because my Id name did not match the ticket name, being married twice the person who booked my ticket was a bit confused. The only proof i had was three hours away locked away in a safe. However on my id i had signed the correct name. When we went to the counter to try sort it out, they would not exchange my ticket. They said the only thing they could do was make me buy a whole new ticket for R3500, and get a refund from flight centre. Flight centre is not open at 6am in the morning. The flight was already boarding, there was nothing i could do. I was not going to get any help from anyone with the exception of forking out R3500 of our honeymoon money.

It would have cost nothing to exchange my ticket, it was the same seat, on the same flight, at the same time. My husbands ticket was absolutely fine, there was no security risk, and i could prove that it was me by the signature on my id. We spent the rest of our holiday concerned about money, and we are sitting in jhb with almost no option of getting home. I was crying my eyes out the first day of our honeymoon and i will never fly with kulula again. I got a whole speech about their policy of being unable to change the name on the ticket but i had everything we needed to exchange the ticket which people do all the time. Honestly, it was an easy way for them to make money. And im disgusted by it.
