Discussing unhelpful

We flew to jhb from Durban no problems. On our return flight my husband and I had one case between the two of us and it worked 22.5 kgs and we are allowed 40kgs between the two so we saved 18kgs.
We go to check in the woman said wd are over weight we must pay R250.00 or take out the extra weight. I asked her wh
Ahmed I do with the goods she shook her shoulders at me. I said should I find a plastic bag she rep**** do what you want. My husband asked for a manager who came over and said exactly the same and same attitude and walk off. Some one gave us a box to put in out things. We were not ware that we had to have a set of luggage per person which I told them they said its on our website. I did not book on their website. We will not fly with them again unless I'm really desperate. We flew on Sunday night 20.20 Mn625.
Hello Jacqui Rossouw ,

The average cost that the airlines have to pay for handling baggage was included in every ticket, so customers with no baggage subsidized those with baggage. As ticket prices have risen due to external elements we have had to find ways to keep our ticket prices reasonable in order to stop the total market of travellers from shrinking. One way has been to stop the cross subsidization, so now customers with extra baggage are the ones who pay for it. The weight is not the only issue, as the handling companies charge the airlines for every piece handled, and we also pay for the number of staff required to load the aircraft. This is one of the reasons why over the past 12 years the average Comair fare (BA + kulula) has only increased 14% while inflation has increased 98%. Our current policy imposes a fee for an additional bag which at our counters is R350 and R245 online. If any one item of baggage exceeds 20kgs, a heavy bag fee is imposed on the heavy piece.

I am sorry about the manner in which this matter was handled. I will address it with the airport managers.

Yours Sincerely,
Nazley - CR

Best regards,
