Delayed Flight Kulula MN619 8 March
Very disappointed in Kulula with regards the above flight’s delay. Not only was the flight delayed by 4 hours but the way it was communicated and handled by Kulula.
I have taken pictures of the flight boards and it seems to me that Kulula / Comair were the only airline affected by this. All other flights went ahead as planned. We were told it was weather and I did see the storm that passed over OR at 4pm. The chartered pilot added that it was weather and aircraft rotation that caused this and this is clearly the reason that the other local carriers were unaffected. Either resources or planning or both. Our flight due for take off at 21:10 was still stood on the runway at 00:50 in a chartered Airbus 320.
The insult to injury for me was that I had set a reminder for 9pm on Thursday the 7th in order to checkin online. I wanted and did manage to reserve a front isle seat in order to disembark quickly. I got seat 1C. The rescheduled chartered flight sat me middle wing. I got 15F. So no exiting the plane quickly for me! I have kept the boarding passes especially to show how planning can be futile and infect give you the EXACT opposite desired effect..
I still don’t feel as poorly done by as the young couple that I watched carry their newborn from around 7pm till we disembarked in Durban after 2am Saturday the 9th. There were some school children of about 15 years old that never made the flight and I imagine that their parents made alternate arrangements instead of leaving them in a terminal for so long, that is what I’d have done for my children.
Very disappointed.
