I am a frequent traveller within SA and abroad, and do make use of all the different low cost airlines that are currently operating, Kalula being one of them . Traveling back to work on Sunday 3 Jan 2021 MN910 from GRJ to JNB was delayed by some two and a half hours, I explained to the ops manager that I have a connecting flight from ORT to Lusaka the same afternoon. She told me to report to the Customer service desk at ORT upon arrival and that they will handle it. After waiting more than 30min for luggage ( I presume which was just poor service from ACSA ) , I reached the desk , much to the suprise of the staff wich had no information that there was actually a problem. All I received from them , apart from an offical letter on e-mail proving the flight was delayed, nothing else was offerd. No assistance to rebook another flight, no hotel accomodation or voucher was offered. This is second time I got stuck at ORT due to Kalula being delayed. Erik Venter was the CEO of comair for 13 years and in this time you could sense that the airline cared about passengers and punctuality, one would only have to read the colum in the front of the magazine , his message was always one of hope and positive outlook. In my opionion Kalula.com was the first low cost airline that made flying domestic fun, with catchy phrases etc. I am sorry to say this is no longer the case, the airline only started up again recently after being in bussiness rescue and I understand current conditions are not favourable for many airline companies but one does not get that friendly welcome feeling back on board your aircraft any longer. This should be a crucial time for Kalula to prove to customers they do still want our bussiness, but in the meantime I will catch a LIFT with someone else.Cheers!
