Claim Discrepency - Lost Items - Kulula.com Flight MN 805 - Mr Onga Magingxa

My name is Onga Ludumo Magingxa, ID ********** 471086.

I checked in my bag on the 23/03/2017 on Kulula.com flight MN 805 from O.R Tambo Airport to East London Airport.

Upon my arrival at home I noticed that two items were missing from my bag.

The items are:

1) A pair of brown leather half boot converse all star takkies size 8.5, valued at R1500.00

2) A 100ml bottle of versace dylan blue cologne, valued at R1300.00

The total value for the lost items is R2800.00

I reported the loss to kulula.com and I was advised to open a case at the police state and submit baggage claim documents with the police case on them. The police case number is 187/3/2017 and the claim Ref No is ELS MN 10272.

A few weeeks later I received an email stating that my claim has been finalized and that I will receive a total amount of R590.00 settlement for my lost items because they settle bagagge claims on the basis of weight not value and that I should claim the remaining amount from my travel or personal insurance.

I rep**** to the email stating that the value for my items is R2800 which is the payment I'm expecting and that I do not have personal or travel insurance that covers these items.

Not only was I inconvenienced by an almost 3 hour delay on this flight but very valuable items were ****** from my luggage which I entrusted to kulula.com.

This is totally unacceptable.

I asked that they please review the claim and make payment of the value of my items, which were both practically brand new.

I was communicating with Annemie Laurens who is an airport claims co-odinator. She kept on giving me the same response and she said there was nothing she could assist me with any further.

I then asked her to give me details of a person that can be able to assist me because I am not willing to accept the response that I can only be paid an amount less than half the value of my items.

She then said the next step is to forward the matter to their legal department, and she did so.

I received an email from Kathleen Ireland (legal advisor) which basically was giving me the same unacceptable response.

This has been a stressful and draining process for me especially after I have suffered a loss of such valuable items.

I am still requesting that my claim be reviewed and a total amount of R2800.00, which is the value of my items, be paid to me.

My bank details are below:

Bank - Absa

Account - Cheque

Account Number - ********** 942

Branch - 632005

Regards

Mr Onga Magingxa

**********
