Serious need of management training required.
My family and went to breakfast at Kudta and was yet again disappointed with the usual lack off customer service at this establishment. As much as management might consider this as a minor matter to customers this is a clear indication of a lack of attention to detail and most importantly customer value. Upon receiving the bill for our breakfast I had enquired why we were charged R12 a coffee whereas the menu clearly states that coffee with the breakfast specials are charged at R7.50 each. We were informed that it was an error and the coffee was in fact R12 which was what we needed to pay.
I informed the waitress that under no circumstances will I be bul**** into paying the price not representative on the menu on principle as I was already very apprehensive returning after a similar experience a few months earlier when we went for breakfast at 7h30am, and was turned away as the restaurant only opened at 8am when the signage outside the restaurant clearly stated 6h00 and no concession was made for us with a 1 year old child.
She apologised and said she will address the matter with management. About 5 minutes later she and who I can only assume was the manager went up to the cash register and adjusted the bill. I was then presented with a corrected bill to pay. I asked the waitress if the manager did not care that I was angry due to previous similar issues and now because he thinks I am too cheap to pay for coffee discounted it and walked off without even the courtesy of an apology. She did offer to ask him to come chat to me however at this point did not see the value in discussing my frustrations with an individual who clearly did not care.
I was furious to say the least not only due to the issue of the coffee, the menu still stated they open at 7am however was advised on that very day that the restaurant only opens at 8am and now this arrogant manner of a so called manager.
Our bill may have been a lousy R100, or we were just 2 middle class individuals having the breakfast special however they should keep in mind that every cent counts and have they not noticed we are clearly in a recession.
Furthermore both my husband and I are from the hospitality industry and know first hand the meaning of valuing every single customer that walks through your door, ensuring they return and the power of word of mouth.
All of which Kudta management needs some serious training on.
