I recently purchased a complex unit as an investment option however 2 months after the unit was registered under my name the geyser burst which was replaced. Unfortunately the geyser was not working and I had to call the insurance company to resolve it. Insurance advised that the geyser was replaced and I need to unfortunately reach out to my body corporate to resolve any additional matters. I did call my body corporate and they advised that they can only get another plumber out to go have a look. Unfortunately the geyser was faulty and was replaced again but second time the geyser also didn't work. I was told there is an electrical wiring fault and I need to get an electrician out at my own cost whish I did. Upon inspection, the electrician picked up that all breakers were connected to the main breaker and the earth leakage was bypassed. The breaker outside at the geyser burnt and needed to be replaced and the neutral bar in the house also had burnt where the geyser was connected. I then reached out to the property agency that dealt with the transfer of the unit to my name and asked for the COC certificate and the electrician the seller got to do the inspection. To shorten the story we did speak on email and eventually I did call the electrician (Elias). According to Elias it is normal to connect a geyser to the mains and not to have the geyser behind the earth leakage. The insurance company rejected my claim due to non compliance, the electrician I personally had to get ou advised the wiring was non compliant however KTW electricals disagrees and advised they are fully compliant. I had to pay for the plumber and the electrician to fix the mess that KTW electricals left me with in excess of R14 000. I would never recommend KTW electrical to anyone as they do not take responsibility for their workmanship and they ignore you once you provide evidence of the non compliance.
