Letaba rest camp KNP

I recently stayed at Letaba for 8 nights and am heartbroken to see the degradation of this once beautiful camp. Upon arrival we unpacked the car and I wanted to put our meat in the freezer but was horrified to find human hair in the freezer drawers, so I had to waste my time cleaning the entire fridge/freezer before I used it. Also the stove was so filthy and it looked like no one had cleaned it in years. On leaving camp the following morning I turned the fridge to face the wall as requested and upon arrival back there were 6 non alcoholic beers and 2 bottles of wine missing. I called the duty manager Sydwell who came to see me immediately. There was really nothing he could do as it could have been anyone but while he was at my unit I showed him the broken, smelly unhygienic dustbin that was next to my chair and also the filthy stove and broken freezer drawer. I also told him about the hairs in the fridge/freezer and showed him all the hair under the outside table. I can only imagine that the cleaner uses the same cloths to clean the shower toilet and everything else. Walking around the camp, I noticed that some of the bungalows had newer and bigger fridges and couldn’t help wonder why they would give someone staying for 8 nights a smaller one with broken drawers. The fire that happened 2 or 3 years ago at the shop is an absolute eyesore as is the rest of the camp. I realize that without the regular amount of visitors to the park you have had to cut back on expenses but for the amount that you charge, your extremely poor standard and unhygienic accommodation is totally unacceptable. I’m not sure when last the thatch inside the bungalow was dusted or cleaned, but by looking at it I could see that it was not done this century and on my last night, I got a pile of thatch and a mouse fall onto my bed. There is a total lack of management at Letaba and maybe a little more thought and planning should be used if someone is booked for a longer stay. I am now a SASSA pensioner and this Kruger visit was a retirement gift from my company so I am heartbroken that in 65 years of visiting the park that this, my last trip was a total disaster.
