Refuse to refund

I bought 3 remotes from the shop on 5 Aug for a total of R1180. When I went to the shop I took my set of house keys and remotes with as I wanted to make duplicates. I was told to take two similar remotes of R490 each that will work with my remotes as they did not have the exact type of remote I needed for the alarm. No where in the shop is a sign indicating that refunds will not be made. I got the security company to set the remotes and they told me the one remote will not work with the alarm. Phoned Johan and asked if I can return the one remote and he just said no. No I sit with a R490 remote that I cannot use after the shop assistant told me that it will work. Bad attitude galore. The shop assistant even told me to keep the slip just in case.
