Poor overall business dinner experience
I arranged for my small business year-end dinner on 12 December 2020 at Kream Brooklyn, as I wanted it to be a special occasion for my employees, having had a difficult 2020.
Big was my disappointment. We were never officially welcomed by anyone, not the staff at reception nor the waitress serving us. I repeatedly had to call the waitress to be served drinks. It was almost as if we were ignored and if service was rushed.
Th waitress also appeared to not be well trained and did not observe protocol like serving ladies first, opening napkins etc. I expected this basic service based on previous experiences.
Despite everyone around the table indicating the food was good, I can attest to the fact that it was not on par (not value for money). The food was simply placed on the plates with no garnish or plate dressings. The steaks served to the ladies were overwhelming in size and they did comment on this. The oxtail dish served to me was slightly burned and only came with one vegetable.
In the end, when I called for the bill, the deposit was not subtracted from the bill. Yes I was asked to pay a R1,200 deposit to secure my seating. We waited until our guests have left before we went back and queried this and unfortunately had to get involved in a fairly heated argument before our deposit was paid back in cash.
Overall I rate Kream a poor experience and will definitely not recommend it for business lunches or dinners.
