Karcher vacuums: Fix it yourself and save money.

The filter on our Karcher vacuum became dislodged and the motor started to make a screaming noise. I took it to Karcher in Tableview and paid for an examination. It was returned as "beyond economical repair". I don't think it had even been opened. I took it home, opened it and vacuumed all the dirt out of the motor. Now it's fine. Why are allegedly trained service people unable to do that? Actually, looking at the overly complex structure of the unit, I can understand why they were reluctant to open it.
