Kärcher - The company and its products to be avoided at all costs.

I purchased a Kärcher Floor Cleaner from Makro, Pretoria East, on 14 June 2019. This was used once a week to clean the floors at my home and before it was 6 months old it stopped working - it seemed that the gears of the rollers had stripped. I returned it to Makro on 24 November 2019, when it was just 5 months and 2 weeks old - having been used no more than 25 times during this period. On 12 December - 2 weeks later, I received a message from Kärcher to say the machine had been "banged around" and they would be charging me for the repair! I informed them that if this machine could not withstand 25 runs of normal application, then it was simply not fit for purpose and in this case, I would opt for my Consumer Right to be refunded as it was less than 6 months old. For a further 6 weeks I implored both Makro and Kärcher to sort out the problem and to give me some kind of response in this matter. Finally, after 10 weeks, I finally received a message from Kärcher in the form of a quote for half the cost of what I had paid for the machine 5 months before it stopped working! Not only has the service I have received from both Makro and Kärcher been totally unacceptable, it is also disappointing to find that Kärcher is just another company that cares so little for their customers, is hell-bent on short term profiteering and that their supposedly "industrial" level of appliances fall far short of this classification.
