Frustrerend Customer!!!

To whom it may concern

I would like to lodge a complaint against Koops Motor Repair Clinic, 657 Steve Biko Road, Gezina in Pretoria.
I own a Corsa Lite Sport 1400. In 2013 I started having problems with it where the car would just die when I take my foot off of the petrol and then not start again. Usually in the middle of peak traffic. Nobody could tell me what was wrong. I ended up paying around R8500.00 and eventually gave up.

Some time last year, my father had a discussion with the owner of Koops. He was told that I could bring my car (broken at the time & nobody could find the problem) to Koops. They would then find the problem & fix it. All I would then have to pay for, is what was actually wrong.

On Sunday 2016/03/06 my Father & I towed the car to their workshop.
+- a week later, on 2016/03/15 Koops informed us that the car was ready for pick up. The bill was R4,438.68 (Invoice No: 77582). My father paid the full amount the same day and drove the car home. When I tried to start the car 10 minutes later, it wouldn't start at all.

We informed Koops the next morning about this. 2 Days later they came and towed it back to their garage. On 2016/04/07 they informed us again that the car was ready for pick up. This time the amount due was R3,349.99 (Invoice No: 77890) which was again paid the same day. The car ran fine for about a week.
Then, it started loosing power when I drove. I phoned Koops again. They told me to bring the car back. (This was a Friday afternoon) So, Monday morning, I did. The afternoon, I was told that it's condensation in the gas tank and the problem would resolve itself. I continued driving like that for the next month or so, the car kept doing the same thing
(I had to keep my foot on the petrol at all times) until I couldn't handle it anymore.

I phoned them and took the car back. I spent the whole day there. Eventually, a driver took me home and I left the car there for the night. The next afternoon, I was told that the bolt that held the cambelt pulley to the crankshaft was loose and this is what created the problem. (Gave the previous mechanic that serviced the car, the blame). They then tightened it and I picked up my car again.

It drove fine for about 3 days when the same thing started happening once again! Then out of nowhere, adding insult to injury, the car started dying while driving. (It happened a couple of times while I was on the Hi-Way). On Tuesday 2016/06/14 I took the car back to them. The next afternoon, I was informed that they found the problem. It was something to do with the engine speed sensor and I was to pay R668.18 for this. (Invoice No: 78993) Once again, I had to scramble to get money to pay for this. I fetched it that same day. On the way home, the car died again. I waited about 20 minutes and it started and I was able to drive it home.

Friday evening 2016/06/17 after work, the car broke down completely and wouldn't start at all. Eventually, a stranger (who turned out to be quite drunk and suggested that I do favours for him) towed me home.
Monday morning at 09:00, I called them to come tow my car back & I didn't hear anything from them for the rest of that day. Eventually at 15:00, I phoned them to find out what was happening. I was told they would fetch it the next day which they finally did. Then for 2 days I didn't hear a word. Wednesday 2016/06/22 at 15:00, I phoned them. I was told that my (brand new) battery, that they installed, was flat and that they re-wired some or other thing. They wanted to keep it another night to make sure it started the next day. I gave them permission to put in some petrol if needed in order for them to do a propper test drive. So the next day, at 15:00 I still haven't heard anything from them. Again I phoned them. The car was fixed and I only had to pay R100 for the petrol they put in. (Invoice No: 79100) I asked them to send their driver to pick me up at work.

This evening 2016/06/24 on my way home, I broke down again. Having no other choice, I phoned them and they sent a towing service to come and fetch my car. (I had to ask this gentleman whether he could take home)

It has been 2 weeks now and still, they don’t have a solution to the problem. Have been staying at my parents house, unable to go anywhere.

Now, I would like to know, what am I to do now? To date I have paid a total of R8,556.85 and it I still sit with the same situation.

I do not have any other transport to get to work and back. There is no public transport where I live that I can use. Which means, that I have to go stay by other people every time my car brakes down. I am a MARRIED woman of 35 (with responsibilities) who had to move back into her parents house for a month. I have had to stay a my manager's house just to be able to get to work. Then I'm not even talking about my own safety. I have been accosted more than once while standing on the side of the road, at night, woman alone. I've been asked for money, cigarettes, my cell number & a "good time" (& one man's exact words: "he would make it nice for me"...

Please help.

Regards,
CN Kitching
Email Address: ********** />Cell Number: **********
